Homeownership

Purchasing a home remains an insurmountable challenge for many citizens. Through its various programs, the Housing Authority helps turn the dream of homeownership into a remarkable reality for several Houstonians.

The agency's sustained efforts to help low- to moderate-income families acquire homes reflect our commitment to promoting economic self-sufficiency. These initiatives offer financing assistance, as well as homebuyer education and pre- and post-home purchase counseling.

Historic Homeownership Program

The Historic Homeownership program features several newly constructed or rehabilitated homes in Houston's Fourth Ward community. These 1- and 2-story homes are slated for sale to prospective homeowners with incomes of 60 percent to 80 percent of the city's area median income. Scattered Sites Program

The Scattered Sites program features single-family homes, located across the city, available for sale to current Housing Authority residents and families whose annual income is at or below 80 percent of the city's area median income. Nearly 150 families have become new homeowners to date as a result of the agency's premier homeownership program. For more information on this program, please contact Bill Ramey at 713.260.0763.
